Leather Care

Leather Care

Handmade leather shoes age well when given small, regular attention. Ten minutes a month is enough.

All Leathers

  • Rest between wears. Leather needs a day to release moisture. Two pairs in rotation outlast three worn daily.
  • Keep away from radiators and direct sun. Fast drying cracks leather. Wet shoes dry slowly, at room temperature, stuffed with paper.
  • Never machine wash.

Smooth & Textured Calfskin

  • Wipe with a soft, barely damp cloth.
  • Condition with a neutral leather cream every 4–6 weeks; buff with a soft brush.
  • Scuffs on waxed finishes often disappear with a firm rub of a fingertip — the wax redistributes.

Nubuck & Suede

  • Brush with a suede brush after wear, always in one direction.
  • Lift marks with a suede eraser; refresh with a spray protector suited to nap leathers.
  • Keep creams and waxes away — they flatten the nap.

Leather Soles

  • Leather soles wear in, developing a walking surface unique to your stride.
  • Avoid prolonged soaking; after rain, dry flat at room temperature.
  • The copper rivet needs no care at all — copper develops a natural patina that does not affect conductivity.

Storage

Cool, dry, out of sunlight. The cotton dust bag your shoes arrive in is their best home between seasons.
